August 27, 2009 - Pro Star Aviation Announces Certification of Kollsman GAViS
Pro Star Aviation, a National leader in avionics installation and repairs, has announced it is in the final stages of STC certification with the Kollsman (An Elbit Systems of American Company) GAViS installation on a Sikorsky S-76 helicopter. GAViS or General Aviation System is an alternative for Night Vision Goggle conversions. Final certification is expected by the end of May 2009.
General Manager, Kevin Harriman, demonstrated his enthusiasm as he explained "In our ongoing efforts to offer critical benefits and advancements to our clients in this industry, our team has demonstrated once again that Pro Star is the leader in the Northeast. This is just one more example and we're excited about it." Pro Star Aviation has had repeated success obtaining nearly 50 STC's on a wide variety of aircraft for systems like TCAS, EGPWS, LCD EFIS, Satellite TV, SATCOM, and RVSM which are sold throughout the world for use by other facilities.
The Kollsman GAViS is a low profile camera enclosure that is mounted on the upper cowl of a Sikorsky S-76. In periods of darkness and/or limited visibility, this technology provides outstanding situation awareness on a heads down display without pilots having to convert cockpit lighting or wear headgear. A Flight Display Systems video monitor is mounted on either side of the instrument panel offering an excellent forward view approach, departure and taxi operations in the future to include the Universal Avionics ASU EFB unit and the Flight Display Systems "Flipper" monitor mounted on the instrument panel glare shield.
