March 21, 2012 - Pro Star Aviation awarded as an STC ODA
Londonderry, NH - The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), under Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), part 183, subpart D has issued a Letter of Designation authorizing Pro Star Aviation as a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) Organization Designation Authorization (ODA).
The FAA started the ODA initiative to more effectively manage critical resources in response to the growing needs of the aviation industry. It also allows the FAA to concentrate its resources on the most safety-critical matters. The designation allows Pro Star Aviation to act on behalf of the FAA when approving and issuing STCs.
As an ODA, Pro Star Aviation will manage the STC project from start to finish with very little involvement from the FAA. After submitting a project notification letter to the FAA and receiving their concurrence that the proposed certification and conformity plans are acceptable, Pro Star Aviation is in control of the project. It continues on our schedule, not the FAA’s. Along with this designation comes a great responsibility and commitment on behalf of Pro Star Aviation’s senior management to ensure the highest standards of quality, reliability, and safety.
Since 1998, Pro Star Aviation has developed nearly 50 FAA STC’s in addition to managing STC projects for other applicants. Receiving the ODA designation is an important milestone for Pro Star Aviation. Through nearly a 15 year partnership with the FAA, we’ve taken every possible step to earn their highest confidence in our engineering capabilities, internal processes, and compliance findings. This designation will improve the efficiency and standardization of the certification process and become an important service enhancement for our customers.
Kevin Harriman, Pro Star Aviation’s General Manager, commented “This is a big step towards the future growth of Pro Star Aviation, and the culmination of years of hard work within our engineering department. It is a testament to the diligent and meticulous manner in which our engineering department handles certifications, and the confidence the FAA has in Pro Star Aviation”.
