Summary/Objective:

The Lead Aircraft Maintenance (AOG) Technician is responsible for assigning and coordinating work assignments with his/her team; Assumes responsibility for all maintenance functions for his/her assigned team. A Lead AOG Technician is responsible for completing time-sensitive aircraft repairs in the field away from base. This position requires the technician to display a professional demeanor and project this atmosphere to our customers while working in sometimes unfamiliar locations throughout the support region. Applicant must be willing to work on multiple aircraft makes and models, and MUST be willing to relocate to the New Hampshire area

Essential Functions:

  • Work with Customers in a cordial, respectful and professional manner, and to see to it that all personnel behave accordingly
  • Provide accurate timely reporting to Director of Maintenance and Project Manager, of status of in-service aircraft
  • To always lead by example, through professional behavior, integrity, commitment to the company and compliance with its policies
  • Supervise and direct activities of all personnel assigned, assuring all maintenance is completed in compliance with established company policies and procedures set in Pro Star Aviation (RSM/QCM), as well as applicable FAA regulatory guidelines
  • Proactively build coworker skill sets, lead assigned employees through motivation, communication, mentorship, and accountability
  • Ensure that all documentation is completed and signed-off accurately in a timely manner
  • Assist with completing all required paperwork, review work orders of incoming aircraft to determine labor, parts, and equipment necessary to accomplish the assigned inspection, maintenance, and repair. Assist with requesting necessary parts, service, or equipment as required
  • Scrutinize the proper tagging of Aircraft work in progress, components, parts, and panels appropriately stored
  • Ensure daily timekeeping requirements are completed on time and accurate
  • Oversee Technicians to ensure the work area is kept to the highest standards of safety, compliant always, enforcing regulations and practices to avoid accidents. Strictly enforce good housekeeping practices with an objective of securing an environment conducive to employee well-being
  • Ensure that tools and equipment are correctly used and handled by Technicians for both safety and to reduce breakages, wear, and tear. Require Technicians to report any tool malfunction promptly to replace or repair accordingly  
  • Inspect, test, repair, maintain and service aircraft
  • Read and interpret aircraft maintenance manuals and specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components
  • Modify aircraft structures, systems, or components by following drawings, engineering orders and technical publications
  • Examine and inspect engine or other components for cracks, breaks, or leaks
  • Disassemble and inspect parts for wear, warping, or other defects
  • Assemble and install electrical, plumbing, mechanical, hydraulic, and structural components and accessories using hand tools and power tools
  • Adjust, align, and calibrate aircraft systems using hand tools, gauges, and test equipment
  • Test engine and system operations using testing equipment and listens to engine sounds to detect and diagnose malfunctions
  • Service and maintain aircraft systems by performing tasks, such as flushing crankcase, cleaning screens, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes
  • Perform maintenance IAW FAA acceptable and approved technical data
  • Research FAA technical data to locate applicable data relevant to assigned tasks
  • Additional duties may be assigned

Required Education and Experience:

  • Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certification required
  • High School diploma
  • At least 5 years’ experience in the aircraft maintenance field
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Good communications skills; both verbal and written required
  • Valid Driver’s license

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Maintenance experience working on Hawker, Bombardier, Embraer, and Pilatus aircraft types

Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities but may provide training and/or work direction to other staff members within the organization in the management and execution of their areas of responsibility.

Work Environment:
Frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. Occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions in the hangar. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Physical Demands:
Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. This position is very active and the employee frequently is required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl all day.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 pounds.  No specific vision requirements.

Objects weighing 70 pounds or more must be accompanied by a second individual to avoid injury.
