96 Months with the PC-24: What Owners Should Know About the Milestone Inspection

Pro Star Aviation has completed one of the first 96-month inspections on a Pilatus PC-24 in the United States, and the aircraft is already back in service. The inspection was completed at our Portland, Maine (KPWM) facility. The first PC-24s are approaching eight years in service, and the 96-month inspection is now a real date on the calendar. This inspection offers the closest look yet at the PC-24’s maintenance requirements and the considerations that shape long-term aircraft ownership. If your PC-24 is approaching year eight, here is what to know before it arrives.

How the PC-24 Maintenance Cycle Builds to 96 Months

Pilatus builds the PC-24 maintenance program on MSG-3 (Maintenance Steering Group-3) logic, the structured method used across aviation to decide which tasks are needed based on what a failure would mean for safety and reliability. The cycle builds through defined intervals up to the 96-month inspection. Once it is complete, the aircraft returns to the 12-month interval and the sequence begins again.

The inspection is due at 96 months or 4,800 flight hours, whichever comes first. A highly utilized aircraft can reach it before its eighth year. Each step up adds scope. The deeper inspections cover areas that rarely get attention during routine maintenance, with a focus on corrosion, wear, and overall condition.

What Year Eight Means for Your Budget

The purchase price is only one part of what an aircraft costs to own. Scheduled maintenance, labor, and downtime shape the real operating picture. By this point, some aircraft are past their initial warranty coverage. Owners should confirm what their warranty or service agreement still covers. If you are buying, ask about inspection scope and expected downtime before you sign. A lower purchase price does not guarantee a lower cost of ownership.

Preparing for Year Eight

As more PC-24s reach this milestone, the fleet will build a clearer picture of the work involved. Early planning, knowing the requirements, and a maintenance team that has done the work before all help owners prepare for scheduled downtime and budget. Whether you fly a PC-24 or are weighing one, the questions are the same: when is the inspection due, how long will the aircraft be down, and what will it cost?
